Vecchia America: born 78 giri
A cd dedicated to Teddy Reno to launch a new straordinary discographic series
The first cd of the ‘78rpm’ catalogue is dedicated to the singer Teddy Reno who started his collaboration with RAI in the biennium 1948-1949 when in the Studio B in Via Asiago he recorded a series of performances with the orchestras directed by Gorni Kramer and Lelio Luttazzi. Teddy Reno was also an actor and the founder of the record label CDG in 1948; thanks to his frequent travels to the United States he brought to Italy the Italian versions of many American hits. The songs included in this cd testify the unforgettable beginning of the artistic career of an important ‘voice’ in the Italian music history of the post-war period: Arrivederci Roma (he even recorded the first English version for Decca in the US), Malafemmina, White Christmas, Les Feuilles Mortes, just to name a few titles.
